Dean Spotlight - Chris Thompson

Chris and his wife Carrie have been married 18 years! Chris has been coming to the Southeastern Baptist Youth Camp (SBYCamp) since he was 11 years old, and Carrie since she was 9! They met at SBYCamp in 1994. Chris is an Engineer at Cummins, and Carrie is a nurse. They have 3 children: Delaney (16), Luke (13), and Kendall (10).

Their family loves to go hunting, shoot firearms and bows, four-wheeling, and exploring in the woods. They also love to try new foods! Each of the kids are involved in after school programs including band, golf, campus life, orchestra, choir, and dance.

As a family, they have been involved with Music Camp, and Chris is the Dean for Paintball Camp. Camp is important to the whole family and it is their mission field! “Camp is a place to get with God, and away from stress.” Their kids described camp as “Fun!”,” Awesome!”, and “A place to make new friends!”.

While at camp, both adults and campers are able to meet new people; people of different backgrounds, who are in different places in their lives, and of all different interests. But all of them need Jesus and time away from the busyness of this world! Not only is camp a place to make new friends, but it is a place to bring your friends!

Paintball Camp is a weekend full of paintball! The campers get to see themselves in a simulated stress environment and are able to see how they react. There are team building exercises on the field as well as many life lessons. Another thing they teach the campers is how to take Christianity and the Gospel to the spiritual “battlefield” of their homes, schools, and sometimes even their churches.

“Come experience Camp! It’s valuable and very important!”
